Caribbean Grill Restaurant Coming Soon
December 4, 2016

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (December 4, 2016) – After six years in business as a festival vendor, caterer, and most recently a food truck operation, Caribbean Grill is set to take its Jamaican influenced cuisine to a brick-and-mortar restaurant location.

Locating in the popular Shoppes of Knollwood retail center on south Neil Street in Champaign, Caribbean Grill will join existing restaurant tenants Biaggi's, Le Peep, Great Harvest Bread Company, and China King in offering a fresh, new food option to hungry patrons.

“Caribbean Grill's menu has always focused on preparing authentic, made-from-scratch recipes with fresh ingredients, and providing a consistent experience for our customers every time they choose to enjoy a meal with us,” says Executive Chef and Owner Mike Harden. “We are beyond excited to finally have the opportunity to share Caribbean Grill's menu as a fast-casual restaurant concept.”

Customers will have the option of dining in or carrying-out, when ordering a meal from Caribbean Grill, with the restaurant expected to have approximately 30 seats and abundant lot parking. Delivery will not be offered as a dining option, but both catering and food truck operations will continue, with the addition of the restaurant.

Although a firm opening date has not yet been set, Harden anticipates being open seven days a week from 11:00am-10:00pm and being able to welcome customers in to the new restaurant within the first quarter of 2017. “We still have to complete the construction, inspection, and permitting processes with various city and county agencies, and there is no set timeline on gaining approvals from them,” says Harden.

Prior to the restaurant move, Caribbean Grill will continue to operate from its commercial kitchen location inside of Refinery (2302 W. John Street, Champaign, IL), where customers can also enjoy a carry-out meal from their weekly Soul Food Sundays pop up, open 12:00pm-3:00pm during the months of December and January. If local festival appearances and the popularity of Caribbean Grill's food truck are any indication, Harden and his team have set the stage for a welcomed addition to the Champaign-Urbana restaurant scene.
