January 31, 2016

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (January 31, 2016) – If you've had a craving for the authentic, southern inspired cuisine known as soul food, you're in luck. After a successful run in 2015, the Caribbean Grill weekly 'Soul Food Sundays' pop-up is set to make its return during the month of February, presented in celebration of Black History Month. The menu will be a departure from Caribbean Grill's well known island inspired menu, and offer scratch-made southern favorites instead.

Beginning Sunday, February 7, 2016, Caribbean Grill will be open for carry-out only from inside of Refinery, where its commercial kitchen is based out of. Meals will be available to go from 12:00pm-4:00pm each Sunday throughout the month of February. A different menu will be offered each week.

Mike Harden, Executive Chef and Owner of Caribbean Grill is excited to see Soul Food Sundays return for a second run. “It was extremely popular last year,” Harden says. Adding, “Even a year later, we've still had people asking us when we would do chicken and waffles again.”

Quality is also a top focus for Caribbean Grill. “We're using fresh ingredients and making everything from scratch right in our kitchen — the entrées, sides, breads, desserts, everything.” says Harden.

The southern comfort food menus will range from buttermilk fried chicken and waffles to smothered beef short ribs, baked mac 'n cheese to cornbread dressing with homemade cranberry sauce, and collard greens to braised cabbage. A different scratch-made dessert will also be featured each week, starting with peach cobbler. The month's full menu and pricing can be found online at

Refinery is located 2302 W. John Street, Champaign, IL. Lot parking is available.
