Caribbean Grill Restaurant Business Plan Named as Finalist in National Competition
February 23, 2011

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (February 23, 2011) – Caribbean Grill made its Champaign-Urbana debut by creating a strong buzz at last year's Taste of C-U. Since then, many have continued to wonder, where is Caribbean Grill located? Executive Chef and Owner Mike Harden has been diligently working on a restaurant business plan since that time, and intends to bring a storefront location to town in the near future.

Harden entered the 11th Annual MillerCoors Urban Entrepreneurs Series Business Plan Competition, a national business plan competition, aimed at providing resources to new, minority owned businesses. MillerCoors began this initiative in 1999, and has awarded $1.4 million in business grants to emerging small business owners. This year's national competition selected 15 finalists in five different categories. Harden's Caribbean Grill restaurant plan was selected as a national finalist in the Food/Beverage Service category.

“It truly is an honor and privilege to even be selected as a finalist in such a prestigious competition,” Harden says. “This lets me know that my business plan is viable and my restaurant has a very strong chance of prospering, here in Champaign-Urbana,” claims Harden.

Each finalist is to go before a national judging panel in Chicago, Illinois to make a 20-minute presentation as to why their business plan is supreme. At stake is $150,000 in grant monies, to go towards their business idea.
